Peppol

Peppol is a secure international network for sending and receiving electronic business documents, such as invoices and credit notes. It allows businesses to exchange invoices in a standardized format, making cross-company communication faster and more reliable.

PINT AE

PINT AE (Peppol International Invoice for the UAE) is the UAE’s eInvoicing standard based on the Peppol framework. It defines how electronic invoices should be formatted and exchanged to meet the UAE’s eInvoicing requirements.

5-Corner Model

The 5-Corner Model is the framework used for UAE eInvoicing. It involves five participants:

  1. Supplier – Creates the invoice.
  2. Supplier’s Access Point – Securely reports the invoice to Tax Authority and Buyer’s Access Point.
  3. Tax Authority – Receives the invoice data from Supplier’s Access Point & Buyer’s Access Point.
  4. Buyer’s Access Point – Delivers the invoice to Buyer.
  5. Buyer – Receives the invoice electronically.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) – UAE e-Invoicing

1. What is UAE e-Invoicing?

UAE e-Invoicing is a government initiative that enables businesses to issue, exchange, and store invoices electronically in a structured digital format. The system aims to improve tax compliance, promote paper-less transactions, reduce fraud, and streamline business transactions.

2. Is e-Invoicing mandatory in the UAE?

Yes. The UAE is implementing e-Invoicing through a phased rollout. Businesses will be required to comply according to the implementation timelines announced by the Ministry of Finance and Federal Tax Authority (FTA).

3. When will UAE e-Invoicing become mandatory?

The rollout begins with businesses meeting the revenue threshold of greater than or equal to 50mn from January 202, followed by remaining organizations and government entities during 2027.

4. Which businesses are required to comply?

The requirements will apply to businesses based on their annual revenue thresholds, transaction category and implementation phase. Eventually, businesses engaged will need to comply with the UAE e-Invoicing framework.

5. What is an Accredited Service Provider (ASP)?

An Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is an approved technology provider authorized to facilitate the secure exchange of electronic invoices within the UAE e-Invoicing network.

6. Do I need to change my ERP or accounting software?

Not necessarily. Any ERP and accounting systems can be integrated with Tech Ventures ASP solution through appropriate configurations, APIs, or middleware solutions.

7. Which ERP systems can be integrated with UAE e-Invoicing?

ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Odoo, Zoho, Sage, QuickBooks, and other accounting solutions can typically be integrated with UAE e-Invoicing for compliance.

8. What invoice format will be required?

Invoices are required to be generated in a structured electronic format (i.e. PINT AE XML) that complies with UAE technical and regulatory standards rather than simple PDF documents.

9. Are PDF invoices considered e-Invoices?

No. A PDF alone is generally not considered a compliant e-Invoice because it does not contain the structured electronic data required for automated processing.

13. How long does e-Invoicing implementation take?

Implementation timelines vary depending on the ERP system and selected mode of implementation. The implementation timeline ranges from 4 weeks to 14 weeks.

14. Is e-Invoicing secure?

Yes. UAE e-Invoicing uses secure data exchange protocols and approved service providers to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of invoice data.

15. How do I prepare my business for UAE e-Invoicing?

Businesses should start by assessing current invoicing processes, reviewing ERP capabilities, selecting an accredited service provider, and planning integration well before their compliance deadline.
